Identifying critical business processesYou must approach your business as if it were a machine. A machine is made up of various gears and elements that each execute a specialized purpose. A firm, like a machine, has business processes. They are the cogs and pieces that keep your business running efficiently.  And in order to so we need to be identifying critical business processes.

A business process is essentially an activity or sequence of processes and activities designed to achieve a certain corporate goal.

Business processes are classified into several categories, which include:

Operational or primary processes are concerned with the core business and the value chain. Operational procedures are fundamental company operations that achieve business goals such as revenue generation. Taking customer orders and managing bank accounts are two examples.

Supporting processes, also known as secondary processes, are those that support the fundamental activities and functions of an organization. HR management and workplace safety are two examples. One significant distinction between supporting and operational processes is that supporting processes do not directly deliver value to your consumers.

Management processes are the activities that measure, monitor, and control corporate operations and systems. Communications, governance, strategic planning, budgeting, and infrastructure or capacity management are some examples. They, like supporting procedures, deliver no direct benefit to customers.

As a business owner, you must Identify critical business processes and determine the business procedures required for your company to function. You must determine which tasks are critical to your overall business objectives.

Having well-defined corporate processes also aids in streamlining operations for increased efficiency. It also aids in the streamlining of communication between individuals/functions/departments. Essentially, business processes keep chaos from infiltrating your operation.
