Mobile Number Portability

As a global practice, Mobile Number Portability (MNP) allows a mobile phone customer to keep their number even if they switch networks or change their subscription from postpaid to prepaid and vice versa. The procedure is free of charge.

The Mobile Number Portability Act, also known as Republic Act No. 11202, ensures that mobile phone users can keep their numbers even if they change service providers or switch from postpaid to prepaid, or vice versa.

MNP promotes consumer welfare by allowing consumers to choose and respond to quality, price, and other relevant considerations without having to change their mobile numbers whenever they switch mobile service providers or subscription plans. Porting is completely free.

Conditions to be able to avail of porting services:

• To port within networks, one needs to meet the following requirements:


• The requestor is the owner of an active SIM and mobile number to be ported


• No remaining balance from your previous bill (for postpaid)


• without existing court prohibitions


• No pending transfer of ownership

What benefit does MNP have for businesses?

• A business’ communication quality and expense may not be compromised since MNP provides that an entity, business or individuals, may move their subscription over to a service provider of choice without having to change their mobile numbers.


• A mobile phone owner will be able to change service provider should he/she/they transfer place of business or residence.


• If current service provider does not offer their services or offer inferior quality


• If favored service provider offers better service in the area.


• Porting is FREE.

MNP will be commercially available in the Philippines on September 30, 2021.
