Ever feel like AI is taking over? From writing emails to making social media posts, these smart tools can do a lot of things quickly. But don’t worry! According to eCommerce expert Janette Toral, your most important skills are things a robot can never learn, this is what we call the Human Advantage.

Here’s why being a good person and a smart thinker is still the best way to win in business.

You’re The Boss, Not The AI

AI can write articles or create content for you in minutes, which is awesome. But here’s a secret: sometimes, it makes things up! This is called “AI hallucination,” and it means the information might not be true.

That’s where you come in. Your brain is the most important tool. You are the “human in the loop” who has to check everything, organize the ideas, and make sure it all makes sense. AI can be your fast assistant, but YOU are the boss.

Relationships Are The Real Gold

AI is great at talking to a crowd, but it’s terrible at building real trust. Janette says that while AI can get you an inquiry or two, it can’t get you a referral from a friend.

Your most valuable marketing tool isn’t an app; it’s your friends and your network. Building real connections with people—your customers and other business owners—is what leads to trust and, eventually, to someone saying, “You should work with this person. They are great!”

This is called relationship marketing, and it’s a skill only humans have.

Never Stop Learning

Some people are afraid that AI will take their jobs. Janette says this isn’t true if you keep learning. Think of it like a new skill. If you only know how to post on Facebook but not how to make a Facebook Reel, you might miss out on jobs.

The same thing is happening with AI. Instead of being afraid, you should upskill. Spend a few hours a month learning something new. That way, you’ll always have an edge because you’re adding new skills to your toolbox.

So, while AI might do the easy work, remember that your intelligence, your relationships, and your willingness to learn are what truly make your business special. Those are the human skills no machine can ever beat.
